India Gate is counted among the largest war memorials in India. India
Gate is a tourist attraction located in the center of New Delhi. The
India Gate monument was built by Edwin Lutyens In 1921. It commemorates
the members of the erstwhile British Indian Army. After India's
independence, India Gate became the site of Amar Jawan Jyoti - Indian
Army's Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
Amar Jawan Jyoti is reportedly burning since 1971 and people come here to pay homage to the "Unknown Soldier". The shrine is made of black marble with a rifle placed on its barrel with a soldier's helmet rested on the top.
