Before Christmas decorations made out of plastics and blinking lights flooded the markets, we used to see Christmas star made out of bamboo and colored paper hoisted on top of bamboo poles, with or without leaves on top, in many households in Nagaland. Even I used to make one myself as a kid with family members. We still see them but just a few nowadays.
Making a homemade Christmas star from bamboo can be a good "Do-It-Yourself" project with family members during the Christmas season, I suppose.
