Mumbai Sightseeing- The Bandra-Worli Sea link bridge, Mumbai

During a trip to Mumbai in 2013, we decided to go sight seeing one morning. We asked a taxi driver who came to pick us up at the hotel to show us a few places. The Bandra-Worli Sea link bridge was one among the places he took us to.

The traffic was pretty light at 6 AM in the morning.

The Bandra–Worli Sea Link Bridge connecting Bandra and Worli in Mumbai is also officially called Rajiv Gandhi Sea Link.

The  Bandra–Worli Sea Link Bridge was built at INR16 billion (US$260 million), and was commissioned by the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC), and built by the Hindustan Construction Company. The first four of the eight lanes of the bridge were opened to the public on 30 June 2009. All eight lanes were opened on 24 March 2010. [source: wikipedia]

The sea-link apparently reduces travel time between Bandra and Worli during peak hours from 60–90 minutes to 20–30 minutes. As of October 2009 record, BWSL had an average daily traffic of around 37,500 vehicles. [source: wikipedia]
